ATCx Automobile - User friendly conversion & conection toolbox

This presentation highlights how Altair and Faurecia collaborated together to develop a user-friendly connection and conversion toolbox. In the automotive industry, there is a widespread use of different types of fixations such as metal clips, plastic clips, grommets, US welds, screws, snaps, hinges, etc. Modelling these fixations is quite often a tedious, time-consuming and error-prone process. In this presentation, we describe how Faurecia’s deep understanding and sharing of modelling best-practices coupled with Altair’s connector technology and open architecture HW platform enabled in putting together a toolbox that facilitates the create, edit and review of such fixations in a solver-agnostic way. The presentation highlights the differences between the previous approach towards handling such connections versus the new approach using this toolbox, and showcases the benefits of the new method in several different aspects such as user-friendliness, cost savings, solver-interoperability, etc. It also goes on to provide a roadmap for migration of the toolbox into the core of HW, which would make for a seamless integration of those functionalities within the next generation of HW, alongside other tools that are already in place or actively under development in order to provide the end users a simplified, easy-to-use, consistent user-interface.
